Hi Marc,

We can move the VM using vCenter converter. 1st you need to download guest vcenter folder from esx server. then using vcenter converter we can migrate to another esx server.
then power on your vcenter guest vm and login to vcenter using vsphere client and  migrate the all vms which is in decomissioned esx server and remove from vcenter and decommission the esx server.

Please try this one. It will work I think.
