Microsoft: RDP to Windows 2003 R2 fails – Protocol error

May 2nd, 2010 1 comment

Last week I got some trouble to connect a Windows 2003 R2 32-Bit VM by using RDP.. I received this error:

Because of a protocol error, this session will be disconnected. Please try connecting to the remote computer again.

To resolve this issue you can delete the “MSLicesing” key/folder in the register. Goto:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ , delete MSLicesing folder and reconnect the server.

Citrix: Disable Macromedia Flash objects

May 8th, 2009 No comments

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\ActiveX Compatibility\{D27CDB6E-AE6D-11CF-96B8-444553540000}

VMware: Disable VMware Tools icon Terminal Server System Tray

April 24th, 2009 4 comments

Register sleutel:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\VMware, Inc.\VMware
Tools]
"ShowTray"=dword:00000000

Microsoft: The system administrator has set policies to prevent this installation

March 18th, 2009 1 comment

Als je als Administrator iets probeert te installeren en de volgende melding verschijnt;

clip_image002

1. Open a CMD.EXE prompt.
2. Type msiexec /unregister and press Enter.
3. Type msiexec /regserver and press Enter.

1. HKLM\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Installer

2. Delete "DisableMSI" or change the value to 0.
